About Onewayticketabroad
Welcome to my blogs!
Hi, I’m Millicent, born in China but grew up in London, United Kingdom.
I’m not sure what sparked my love for travelling, but I have been backpacking on and off since 2020. As soon as I graduated, I worked for 7 months and saved to go travelling with my best friend from University. This trip sadly got cut short because of Covid-19, however, the 3 amazing months that I experienced made me want to continue to explore the world and finish what the pandemic stopped me from doing.
This led to my first ever solo-backpacking trip in 2022. I spontaneously spent 7 unforgettable months travelling around South East Asia, seeing and doing the most incredible things. It was both exhilarating and daunting at the same time, but it was the most amazing experience ever. I learnt so much from all the countries I visited and their diverse cultures, and it made me appreciate the small things in life. I even met my boyfriend in Thailand, whom since meeting, have travelled to 26 countries together. We chose to pack up our lives and move to Australia at the end of 2023 for 2 years, to work and save. From there, we created a new life for us, meeting some of our best friends, doing a lap of the country and travelling to other countries in between, creating some incredible memories together. We are now currently on our last big trip around Latin America, returning back to the UK in August 2026.
One Way Ticket Abroad was created during my time in Asia, I wanted to document all the incredible things I had done, whilst also helping fellow backpackers with their travels. I started my Instagram page first sharing tips and recommendations on budget backpacking, solo travelling as a girl, all the places I went to, where I stayed and the activities I did. This led onto creating this blog, I wanted to give more in depth recommendations that I couldn’t do on Instagram and here we are. These blogs are written in a way that is more like a diary, to help me remember everything, whilst also making it easier for my family, (mainly my dad who isn’t good with social media) to keep up to date with what I have done.
Mil Munches was also created as an extension of One Way, focussing on all things food, recommending all kinds of cafes, restaurants and bars that we visited on our travels. You can check out this page here or on the tabs section at the top.
